Who are you?

ConnectivHealth, Inc.
My name is Will Fitch. I am a developer for ConnectivHealth, and we publish medical related articles for physicians and offer content to educational institutes. Some of our sites include:

VerusMed.com – a website that provides clinical news briefs to physicians, health care professionals, and industry executives through therapeutic and industry segment-specific information services.
DiscoveryHospital.com – a consumer health information portal licensed to hospitals.
HealthTeacher.com – a system that offers a health curriculum for K-12 teachers.

ConnectivHealth is an entity that really concentrates on the methodology that their software is created just as much as the actual software. We are in the process of making development standards, and I am humbled to a part of this talented team.

ICG Link, Inc.

ICG Link is an internet consulting group (ICG) that services the greater Nashville area. Here I worked on lots of sites as a PHP and ASP.NET programmer. I worked with MySQL and SQL Server quite a bit, and the folks there are awesome, and some of the most talented people in the business.

NASA

Prior to working at ICG Link,, I worked for NASA as a PHP developer. My years at NASA were absolutely wonderful. They encouraged research and all of the latest and greatest in technology.

All of the work I did for NASA served the NASA intranet, mostly Marshall Space Flight Center. I also taught week-long PHP and MySQL courses about five times per year. I do hope to one day work with them again!

Verizon Wireless / Myers’ Communications

This was my exploration period for web development. I worked on the City of McMinnville’s websites, including the actual city site as well as industrial board. Myers’ gave me the time and motivation to expand my knowledge for web programming and for that, I will always be greatful.

US Army

I worked for the US Army as an infantryman. I was deployed multiple times to the Middle East and Balkans. While I was not a programmer, I really enjoyed my time in service.

I started my journey into web development while serving in Iraq. I created a chat room using PHP and MySQL so that we could talk with our families when we finally did get some PCs. Since then, I have loved programming and wouldn’t change a thing!

I have written a couple of articles for php|Architect, the premier PHP magazine. Both articles covered PHP, AJAX and MySQL.

Conferences

DC PHP Conference – Two sessions: “Developing Rich Internet Applications with Flash and PHP” and a demo of an application I built at NASA.

MySQL Conference and Expo – One session: “Taking Advantage of MySQL at NASA”

What technologies do you work with?

I primarily work with PHP, PostgreSQL, MySQL, CSS, and JavaScript (Mootools, especially). I do have a passion for C, however. It is a language that has so much to offer, and allows your creativity to really come out.

Web Services are my other passion. I love exchanging data among systems using SOAP. I am currently working on the rewrite of my existing zip code web service. I hope to eventually have multiple web services that are freely available to all. I love free data!

I also work on Windows™ desktop applications using C# and Visual Studio (I guess I should mention it).

I also have experience with Oracle, SQL Server, Java/JSP, C++ and a host of other things.

I love reviewing books and products. I do offer consulting, but am typically booked through a couple of months. You are free to contact me and I can pencil you in!
